Shred, recycle and feed hungry Saturday at Courthouse
November is traditionally the time when people remember to be thankful. Food, of course, is one thing that comes to mind during this holiday season. So many are blessed with an abundance of food, yet others struggle day to day to feed their families.
It's time to help stock the Rutherford County Food Bank for the holiday season in exchange for a unique opportunity that actually supports recycling.
In 1997, Keep America Beautiful designated America Recycles Day to educate and motivate citizens to work together for a nationally recognized day of recycling. This national initiative strives to make Americans stop and think about the importance of recycling and the consequences of waste. Recycling helps to stop natural resource depletion, it reduces the need for new landfills and it actually creates jobs.
The Rutherford County Environmental Education Program, in partnership with MaxShred, a locally owned on-site document shredding company, will help the cause of America Recycles Day by offering a free local shred day from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 19, in the parking area of the Rutherford County Courthouse.
