DEAR SHOPPING: I admire your shopping skills and ability to help so many people find the impossible. I hope you can help me, too.

Can you recommend an alternate to Lancer Skin Care (the three-step products)? I like them, but they are expensive. Is there anything out there that uses similar ingredients and does as good a job without breaking the bank?

Exfoliators and scrubs are easy: Burt's Bees, Aveeno, L'Oréal and Neutrogena offer good products and each is $7.99. Once a week is enough to get rid of dead skin cells. My favorite? The Burt's Bees Soap Bark & Chamomile deep cleansing cream.

You definitely don't need to spend a ton on a twice-daily cleanser. I borrowed my daughter's Cetaphil cleanser over Thanksgiving and won't use anything else. It's gentle and gets the job done without stripping your skin's natural oils. A big pump bottle is about $10.
