Q I’m thinking of having some filler in my cheeks. If I don’t like the result, can it be reversed?

A When performed by an expert, satisfaction with hyaluronic acid injectables is very high. In general this is one cosmetic procedure that can be reversed. Also most fillers will gradually be absorbed and results will diminish within four months.

If you’ve been injected with a hyaluronic acid-based formula such as Restylane or Juvederm or you are not happy with the results an injection of hyaluronidase can speed up the absorption so results diminish within a few weeks.

If you’ve had a non-hyaluronic injectable the body will naturally dispose of it after six months.

Keep in mind that other types of injectables, such as Botox and Radiesse, cannot be broken down this way. Never have permanent fillers for the simple reason that they are permanent.
