Although Richards and Parsons hung out at Villa Nelcote in France in 1971 playing acoustic guitar together, the band was recording ' Exile On Main St ' in the heat-drenched basement downstairs, and therefore, no tapes exist of those acoustic meanderings. The only documenting witness is found in photographs taken by Dominique Tarle, the band's official photographer at that time . Richards was certainly no stranger to country music when he met singer/songwriter Parsons in the late 1960s, as evidenced by the unreleased documentary, "Charlie Is My Darling." In its footage recorded during the Stones’ 1965 Irish tour, Mick Jagger is seen singing Hank Williams’ "I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry," as Richards accompanies him on keyboards. Another country track that had previously been recorded by the Stones prior to the release of ‘Some Girls,’ was the late Hank Snow’s "I’m Movin’ On," which appeared on the band's 1965 release "December’s Children." Richards, himself, addresses his early interest in country in his autobiography. On February 27, 1977, Richards was charged with "possession of heroin for the purpose of trafficking.” Richards’ passport was revoked, and he stayed in Toronto with Anita Pallenberg, the mother of his children Marlon and Angie, until April. Upon returning, Richards, who had pled guilty, gained entry back into the United States on a medical visa for treatment for heroin addiction as part of his sentence.
